Celebrate Green and create eco-friendly anniversary time capsules

We humans have great memories, but so many details of our lives slip away? Consolidate your memories and have fun together on each anniversary by creating a time capsule as a part of each anniversary celebration. Then, say every ten years, you can open them to remind yourselves of all your amazing times together.

Choose acid free boxes or make large envelopes from acid free paper. (Using acid free papers will assure the container will not deteriorate through the years. Of course, keep your keepsake boxes dry by storing inside.)

What you put inside is of course, up to you, but here are a few suggestions:

• A copy of the front page of a newspaper or favorite magazine

• Several photos of the two of you taken during the year with a description of where and when the pictures were taken.

• A photo of children, pets, friends and/or family members along with descriptions

• Ticket stubs of movies or shows you saw together this year or airline ticket forms from places you traveled

• You can both fill out a questionnaire contains memory joggers like:

o   The most romantic thing we did this year

o   The best thing about this year together

o   The funniest thing that happened this year

o   Our biggest splurge this year

o   The most emotional time this year

o   Our most unusual time together this year

o   I wish we had _____________ this year

o   I'm most grateful for __________this year

o   I loved when you ______________this year

o   I hope we never again ______________

o   You made me feel special this year when you _______________

• Cards you gave each other during the year, especially any that are handmade

• Reminders of any new eco-habits started during the year. For instance, if you gave up bottled water, a plastic bottle with that message inside. (Be sure the bottle is properly wrapped to keep it from affecting papers in the container.)

• Photos of places you visited this year. An eco-friendly way to do this is to gang print a number of them together in small sizes on one sheet of paper, rather than making prints of each one.

• Or a photo sheet of things you own this year if changes were made, such as your home, décor, car, yard
